Exemplary publishing service provider

I selected Fontaine after an extensive evaluation of alternative suppliers, including DIY. I am more than pleased (thrilled!) with my experience with Fontaine. The aspects that caused me the most gratification included:

1. Same day response to my many queries
2. Prompt action; as soon as I had paid for service the job was in process
3. Professional, accurate advice at each stage
4. All Fontaine's services are extremely cost-effective.
5. At every stage Fontaine staff "under promised and over delivered".
6. They are people of integrity

I have over 50 years of commercial experience and Fontaine was right up there with the very best service providers that I have used. I can not recommend the Fontaine team more highly.

An excellent choice!

Fontaine Publishing have been excellent to work with. They have approached the process of publishing my first volume of short stories in a fully collaborative and responsive manner. From the beginning of our association, the assistance they have given me has been prompt and courteous and helpful. Jason Swiney has a hands on and positive attitude and he is ably supported by his team. The responses I have received to my requests have invariably been personalised and encouraging. The whole experience has turned out to be far less difficult than I imagined it might be and I attribute this to the professional expertise of Fontaine, who are now well advanced with the publication of the second volume in my series. I look forward to a continuing and rewarding relationship.

Outstanding Service

I am so glad I chose to publish with Fontaine again. Last year, my survival thriller Morse Code was offered a publishing contract. It was a dream come true but unfortunately, the contract was not right for me or my work and I ended up declining the offer. When I look for a publisher, I want to work in a partnership and have my input valued. That is why I turned to Fontaine again, because it does feel like a partnership; I am involved every step of the way and now I have released Morse Code as I intended it to be. It is a wonderful feeling. I have no regrets; I know I have made the right decision publishing with Fontaine.

Excellent Publishing and Printing Service

Fontaine Publishing in East Fremantle proved to be a very wise choice for bringing a manuscript to completion as a printed book. The author and myself as his agent were expertly advised and generously accommodated by Jason and his team. Jason Swiney produced a marvellous cover for Of Fisheries and Islands from a few photographs supplied. Because of his wise suggestions, there was a minimum of to-and-fro. Our requests were always fully respected and were filled beyond expectations. We are so glad to have chosen a local publisher and printer, after receiving invitations from abroad to do the job. No-one could have done it better.

Professional advice one can rely on

This is my first book. I needed advice on layout, fonts, illustrations, binding and most importantly, on the dust jacket design. All advice was readily made available, and the end result; an attractive volume which has drawn praise from many quarters. The jacket illustrated by their professional artist is stunning. The printing and binding is top quality. The whole process went very smoothly.

EASY PROCESS

I have been writing for years and the thought of publishing terrified me but Nicola-Jane and the team made the whole process easy. They always left the timeframe (of publishing) up to me, were never pushy but were always available to offer sound advice and support. No question was considered 'too silly' and replies to said questions always prompt. It is because of them that my e-book Paradise Won & Lost is available today. Im madly trying to edit other stories to get them published as quickly as I can and I look forward to dealing with the crew at Fontaine again and again.

TOTAL SATISFACTION

I invested three years plus in writing my book, 'Dancing for the Marquis'. I wanted a publisher who would reflect and add value to that work. The Fontaine team was infinitely patient, responsive and totally professional. The finished product entirely met my hopes and expectations. By the way, everyone who has seen the book is absolutely enchanted by it and impressed at how completely professional it looks in every way. I have already supplied orders for about 20 copies from my own stock. I’m so proud of it ... you were so patient and the end result speaks for itself.
...It would be wonderful to meet you in person and to be able to introduce you as the marvellous publisher that everyone should consult should they wish to publish a book independently. Having discovered your firm by serendipity (and web search) I now have all the zeal of a missionary.".

'one of the best days of his life'

Great news, the books arrived a little earlier today and they look (and feel) absolutely beautiful!! The author was also able to see them and was thrilled, saying 'this is one of the best days of his life'.  Thank you so much to you, Jason and your team; the books are everything we envisioned them to be. We look forward to hopefully working together again in the future.

AN absolute pleasure to work with from beginning to end!

From the very first moment, when I contacted them to ask for quotes and services offered, Jason was professional and prompt and gave me all the information I needed.  I then began the publishing process which incorporated the comprehensive editing services.  My Fontaine editors, Christine and Keith gave excellent feedback and advice on tightening up the patchier parts of the story.  My book title is a result of excellent insights and suggestions, as is the ending which was suggested to open up as a series.  Both of these aspects particularly, I am extremely thankful and grateful for.  The advice was invaluable and has contributed to my progression and development as a writer.

My contact throughout the experience was Nicola-Jane, who was outstanding to deal with, giving quick and efficient replies, no matter how small the question.  She guided me through the process with patience and clear explanations, and was the biggest part of creating such an enjoyable experience.  My publishing option included the books cover design, and I delighted in being able to have such a creative and final say into how my book was going to look.  I highly recommend taking this option to everyone, as there really is nothing like opening your first batch of books and seeing your book cover design, staring back up at you.

I dealt with Ilan on the e-book distribution side, and again, the service was faultless and highly professional.  The team at Fontaine are collaborative, informative, proficient and patient, and I could not be happier with working with them and the finished product.
10/10 would highly recommend this company and the services they provide.

Exceptional understanding

"Eureka! an introduction to Classical Greek for young Australians" is itself a bold, non-commercial venture in producing a cross-cultural textbook for a small market. I have been delighted with the service from Fontaine in terms of promptness, quality and attention to detail, willingness to make a correction in the proof in Greek font (!), and amazing control over the delivery of the finished product within a tight timeline. Jason really seemed to understand what we were trying to achieve! The Flexicore binding will withstand even the worst students can do, and the paper and colour quality are tops. Great service

I recently printed a hard cover children's book 'We Can't All Be The Same,' through Fontaine and used some of their extra publishing services. I had previously used their printing company to print another hard cover children's book 'The Mighty Kite Flight.' Both times I was extremely happy with their service. Jason was always very helpful and often went beyond what was required. Jason was usually very prompt with replies. He helped me through the whole process (especially the first time). The quality of the second book seemed even better than the one from 2 years ago. Very happy with the overall service. Glenn Martin

I chose Fontaine's self-publishing arm (Vivid) to assist me with publishing my book, 'Finding Heraan', because they're located round the corner. What a stroke of luck. I'd now use them again (and again) no matter where I lived in the world. They are genuinely efficient, knowledgeable, creative and easy going. Self-publishing, rich as it is, can be filled with discomfort and awkwardness. But Jason and Nicola-Jane made me feel comfortable the whole way.

They also helped my Mum publish her memoirs 'My 90 Year Journey', and created a more beautiful product than even she had envisaged.

Couldn't be more satisfied

5 out of 5  Reviewed on Oct 21, 2016
The pure physical joy of holding a book in my hand, one that I am proud of, bearing my name, Keith W. Lofthouse, is one of the most satisfying moments of my life. "30 Shades of Darkness", a collection of short stories, was a five year journey and quite a lonely one.
Along the way, I searched for a publisher, big, small and dubious. I’d made enquiries across the eastern states of Australia, but some were too big, too small and the most dubious were those that promised the world with glowing testimonials on poorly constructed websites that were loaded with spelling and grammatical errors. I happened upon Fontaine at one stage and was impressed by the professionalism of their website and the range of services and options offered. They made no fanfare about it but I noticed the Australian Government was listed as one of their clients. That struck a chord. If they were entrusted with government work they could surely be entrusted with my humble offering. But Fontaine were based in Fremantle, Western Australia, a very long way from regional Victoria where I live, and even further from Melbourne which was at least accessible, if any problems in the printing process occurred. Fremantle was not. Still, they provided me with a detailed quote on the costs or self-publishing which was compatible with those I had received from smaller publishers in the east.
My search continued and I almost committed to a boutique publisher in Melbourne’s east until I remembered Fontaine, compared costs, services and options and realised that they were far superior. Months after my initial contact with them, I returned – and if there happens to be a second book in me, I would go back to them again, without hesitation. Suddenly, I was not alone. Fontaine came on board not only as a publisher but as a partner, guiding me flawlessly every careful step of the way through the minefield of cover design, cover to cover layout, PDF proofing, e-book publishing (through Amazon!), even an author’s page – and after receiving delivery of the book inside the gestation period and on the day they advised – further marketing leads and advice.
Everything was done seamlessly and without fuss via email. At one stage, I felt the need to hear a voice and I phoned them just once and the minor problem was solved within seconds. Yasmin, Nicola and Jason at Fontaine were involved at different stages of the production, obviously covering areas of their own expertise. Not once was I left hanging for answers to questions; not once did I doubt their efficiency or professionalism. Fontaine delivered not only what they promised, but more than I expected. I’m proud to have their imprint on my book.

I liked the idea of real people, as opposed to an email partner, I could meet and talk to. Jason, Yasmin and Nicola didn't make any promises they couldn't keep and everything went so smoothly I can't imagine why I would ever do it differently. I've published three titles to date with Fontaine. Long Valley, my first novel was an experiment, not just in writing, but also in the experience of placing my work into the market. After researching the internet extensively and coming up with only a few viable ways to get my work out there, I chose Fontaine because, firstly, they are an Australian company, and secondly, their prices were very competitive.
Self publishing options, if I was to go on my own, produced hurdles such as applying for a TIN for the American market. With Fontaine, I didn't need to concern myself with too much of the administrational side of publishing. I could put all my energy into writing.
I have since published The Walls Of Woodmyst, and The Sons Of Woodmyst, the first two books of The Woodmyst Chronicles, with Fontaine and I couldn't be happier with the service I have received from Nicola and the team
I would highly recommend working with Fontaine to any budding authors.

Its easy to put pen to paper and attempt to write a story or do research for a non-fiction. The hardest part is having it published in a format that is presentable, styled and looking like it was done in a professional manner. This is where Fontaine Publishing Group and Vivid publishing step in to make a prospective writer become a legitimate author.
Yasmin and Jason, highly respected professionals who always gave great advice and offer alternatives. Nothing was too difficult for them even though it may have seeme
d that I was in a different place at times.
Fontaine Publishing Group are head and shoulders above the rest as they have made it possible for first time authors to get a foot in the door. Usually you have to have been published previously and have a knowledge of publishing before being accepted.
Fontaine Publishing Group has given the new unpublished authors a place to go to and it is this opening that enables new authors to not give up, but persist with their dreams and get published.
Thank you Fontaine Publishing Group for believing in us, and giving us an opportunity to be read. My book 'House of Phillips', was delivered promptly and the end result was just amazing. A professional looking book that would sit proudly next to any by 'Hemmingway' or other professional writers. The quality was superb and the cover, binding exceptional.

When it comes to advice, there is no substitute for experience. And experience is what you get when you sign on with Jason and Fontaine to publish your work. Putting written words into the public domain can be stressful, frustrating, energy sapping and expensive. Been there, done that. However, these issues were minimised during the publishing of my Blackwood Trilogy. Jason’s experience was the difference. Now it’s over. I’m happy and the book is a beauty.

After my publisher, Bewrite Books, had to close in 2012, I had an e-book publisher but no print publisher for my two novels. The e-book versions sell very well, but it's still necessary to have print copies. I decided to self-publish.

A friend in the same situation recommended VIVID, a division of Fontaine Publishing. Well, it's all been a huge success. The cost was attractively low, the process was simple, VIVID's staff couldn't have been more helpful (and patient when I made a mistake), and the printed book looks fabulous, of the highest quality. VIVID make all their books available through online retailers as well as to libraries and physical bookstores. I'm completely satisfied, and recommend VIVID without reservation.

I'm very happy with the finished product of my book, achieved by the helpful and professional folk at VIVID Publishing. It was a collaborative process, working together on details of type, format, cover design, etc. All my queries and suggestions were responded to immediately, so the distance between Melbourne and Fremantle was never a problem.

Made the whole process relatively stress free

As a first time self publisher they made the whole process of taking the final pdf to ebook ready and published very straight forward. Plus they offered advice along the way to make the whole project more successful. Even at this busy time of year they managed to turn the whole project around very quickly.

This was a perfect company to help me publish my first book. They worked with me every step of the way and I was allowed to individualise to the way I wanted the book to look like. It was also a lot quicker with the whole process than I thought too.
The finished design was great!

Several million points out of ten, guys; I couldn't fault it. Your production of "McCullock's Gold" -- one's "...Grate Australian Novel and Towering Literary Werk" (The Birdsville Times Literary Supplement) -- was everything I had ever hoped for. ...Good friendly communications, budget-friendly costings, flexibility with print run numbers, a helpful and cooperative attitude toward one's schedule, delivery on time ... plus total satisfaction on receipt of the boxes and inspection of the product's quality... I mean who could ask for more? Certainly not this little spinifex pigeon. I mean ripper bonzer super-beaut!

I am beyond happy that I was able to find a wonderful Australian publisher so that I can proudly know my book is 100% Australian made. The Vivid staff were excellent and good at keeping me up to date with how my book was coming along. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to self publish a book.

Thank you Vivid Publishing - you helped bring my dreams to reality. After doing my research I know you provide an affordable and real alternative to many other publishers out there available to independent authors. I appreciate your laid-back approach; there's no sales pitch or pressure to sign up to packages. No matter how small or large my orders have become, your performance has remained unchanged; consistent, friendly, professional, helpful. Thank you again. It's breathtaking seeing my children's books in tangible, hot-in-my-hands

Thank you for all your help and all your suggestions. For someone like myself, just starting out, it has been invaluable.

Yes, I can thoroughly recommend Vivid Publishing. You were an unknown to me when sighted on the internet, but am so glad I chose you. Reading back over all your emails, [name removed], the publishing process was just one step at a time, not a great amount of bamboozling information all at once, a great help for someone new. Whether my book is a success or not is up to me, and anyone who may read it and recommend it.

High quality finished product

5 out of 5   Reviewed on Nov 15, 2013

Having written a 112 page book of 13 short stories I sought quotes from three self publishing companies across Australia to print 100 copies. The three quotes were within 50 dollars of each other. In the end I selected the Fontaine Group because, for the price, it offered a higher quality paper than the others. The service I received from Fontaine was exemplary in terms of a quick (usually same day) response to my requests, a willingness to make adjustments when I kept changing my mind about the cover and parts of the text, and delivering the book within three weeks of giving the go-ahead to print it. The finished product matches the quality of the best books in bookshops I frequent.

How to publish an e-book

5 out of 5   Reviewed on Nov 11, 2013

After googling 'How do I publish a ebook?' I had several sites on the screen. I carefully chose the one based in Australia in Perth. The company, e-Books Australia is in the Fontaine group.
I cannot recommend them highly enough. They made it so easy. They answered every email immediately so that I always knew where we were at. They patiently and competently led me through the process. It was so quick. Once I had sent the manuscript it was only a week or two until the book was at Amazon-Kindle, iBooks and several other carriers.
Fontaine
designed a superb cover.

The staff member I dealt with was efficient, compassionate, professional, more than competent. I had my question about how to publish an ebook well and truly answered by these great people.

Vivid Publishing always responded quickly, were not patronising and always helpful

5 out of 5   Reviewed on Nov 07, 2013

After several (14) self published books...mainly poetry... in the traditional manner since 1976, I decided to convert two books to e-books. ''I Sing Now'', a personal autobiography, and '' Life is Be Ready'', a guide to the health of the planet into the future and all life. They were produced in Digital hard copy form in 2009 with 2 others.

My experience with e-books was limited, having never read or researched the burgeoning e-books practices and opportunities. I searched for an e-book conversion publisher that could help and guide me hones
tly and professionally.

After several considerations I approached Fontaine Publishing Group via Vivid Publishing.

It was also important to conduct as much research myself as I could about e-book conversion, marketing, world markets , promotion and opportunity. including costs.

Fontaine Publishing were very informative and re-assuring. I followed the guidelines as offered making the changes recommended... Book format requirements for e-books were addressed and checked then checked again. Maintaining my writing integrity, but at the same time being respectful and considerate of advice given..

I can highly recommend Vivid Publishing. They always responded quickly, were not patronising and always helpful, guiding me to publishing conclusion. Now I have to work to promote the book following their guidelines.

Rapt in your excellent work in the publication of MISTER RAINBOW. It was necessary to obtain the detective-noir flavour of the pulp-fiction genre, and you ensured we got what we wanted. As Rainbow might say: Pal, in this game you got to know what you're doing or you're dead. On that basis, you're very much alive, and kicking goals.

As an author previously published by a mainstream publisher, I approached Fontaine Publishing Group with all the usual reservations, including the notion that if you resort to self-publishing you must be desperate. I soon discovered that being truly involved in the myriad decisions that are required to turn a manuscript into a book was invigorating and positive. The people at Vivid Publishing (their co-publishing imprint) were unfailingly encouraging, helpful and at times challenging (in a good way). I came out of it with a feeling of real ownership for what I had created, a feeling that flowed into the launching and marketing of the book. Hats off to Vivid!

Dipping my toes into the publishing world for the first time, I wondered what would become of my manuscript. I need not have worried. From my initial meeting with Jason and the team at Fontaine Publishing Group, until the courier arrived eight weeks later with 15 cartons of books, the experience has been terrific. Along the way, my questions were answered promptly and the end-product is a superb looking novel, exceeding my expectations.
